Left Bank Residency: Day 9

Day 9 was a very very long day. All surfaces had to be covered if the deadline for the gold spray and gilding was to be met and my calculations for eight straight hours of painting did not allow for tea, meals and thinking time.

The result was I finally put down the brush at 11pm. Since this is not the summer soltice, it meant I was painting in the dark. Add the effects of painting in the dark to the techniques of reverse painting on Perspex and you can imagine how little I wanted to see the results this morning.

In fact, I think I should do all my painting in the dark. Allowing for the fact it’s still only viewable on the “wrong” side, it was fine.
