Edgelands of Leeds I

Wandering the backstreets and waste industrial lands of south Leeds over the last few years, I've been fascinated by the large numbers of pubs, some abandoned, empty and boarded up for re-letting, some thriving despite being encircled by vast reaches of wasteland and light industrial units.

How are these buildings still standing despite the unrelenting forces of re-development? Their proud Victorian grandeur reminds us of communities once packed and lively and walking the same streets I now tread as the solitary odd pedestrian.
