Back to work

After a show opening or an open studios, the temptation is to do nothing. Just a day or two. But experience dictates that any day off drawing makes it doubly hard to get going and two days becomes a week and so on and so on.

So the only thing on my to do list today which really mattered was a trip into the big studio and a spot of drawing.

I took myself out on location in a “park” near Holbeck arches. It was windy and desolate and exactly what I needed for a new small project, Doorstep. Making use of materials and subjects immediately to hand. Recycling abject failures and searching out interest in the mundane.

Show opening

There is something very special about the opening of a show with new work. Stress is unavoidable in the few months leading up to it....
