In keeping with the current ambition to explore the surroundings of Barkston House to a shameless degree, I set off the other day to investigate the Armley Gyratory. It called for nerves of steel and a Bear Grylls attitude to adventure. I survived the crossing to the island (both ways) and faced the oncoming traffic on my anti-clockwise circumnavigation with a courageous air.

Back in the studio, the remnant of old canvas I decided to recycle proved an unforgiving and slow surface. After a few hours of scrubbing paint onto the surface, I’m exhausted.

Tomorrow I’ll decide if it’s a bin situation or worth continuing.

Show opening

There is something very special about the opening of a show with new work. Stress is unavoidable in the few months leading up to it....
